Jayme's New Start: From Ashes to Hope

On January 8, 2025, I received video confirmation that the place I rented in Malibu burned to the ground. See photos and videos on my Instagram page.

100% gone.

I have my musical instruments and a suitcase of clothes.

My brand new DJ equipment was lost and about $45K in valuables.

I do not have renters insurance b/c Statefarm canceled fire policies last year, despite my 15-year relationship with them.

Over the last year, I’ve been on a trajectory of loss and shedding: possessions, relationships, work, home, money, heartbreak, and loss of a living child.

Fully wiped out.

I have had a series of many unfortunate events.

I have come on the other side of my dark night of the soul.

I am in a place of acceptance and flow, curious about the life path ahead as it continues to reveal change, death/rebirth and pivots.

There is a plan for me and it will be curious to see what I step into to utilize all of my wisdom gained.

I landed in Malibu in November 2024 and was beginning to get my life in order after being misplaced over the last year. I lost my dream job suddenly in October 2023, and lost a significant amount of money moving my things to and from Europe. I spent 2024 moving my life’s possessions back from Europe and have been selling off all of my possessions for pennies on the dollar to cover my storage overhead. I acquired debt to ship my container back from Europe and pulled money out of my Bitcoin investment that would have put me in a positive position today. Since I’ve returned from Europe, I’ve moved to Big Bear, Ojai, Santa Barbara, Venice, Manhattan Beach, and Malibu, trying to settle back in.

I applied for thousands of jobs without a single interview.

I’ve been working to rebuild my life to get grounded after being misplaced for too many years.

All this said I was just getting my train back on the track slowly. I’ve been on the trajectory to build my sound healing and events and media business, finally determining that investing in my own business is my best and only choice. Things were looking up. They still are. I’ve been fortunate to meet many beautiful new friends over the last year.

I was setting my sights on settling into Malibu and the Palisades, where I’ve been building community.

This is no longer an option for me.

The fire crisis in LA has impacted so many. My heart is broken for these communities that have lost iconic and cultural landmarks, thousands of homes and over a hundred thousand people are misplaced in LA. The entire physical landscape of Palisades, Topanga, and Malibu is forever changed.
