Jaymes Journey

As most of you know, Jaymes was born July 13th 2017. At 6 days old days he had open heart surgery to repair a Ventricular Septal Defect and Aortic Pulmonary Window. That same day we discovered Jaymes had complete tracheal rings which caused his airway to be severely stenosed. So, he also had a surgery called a slide tracheoplasy. He was at the Cardiac ICU at Children's National since he was 2 days old. After his initial recovery we tried several times to extubate Jaymes and wean his oxygen down to a level he could go home on. And we came so close! But in November he caught a bug and the team intubated Jaymes again. Since then we realized he needed tracheotomy and would have to go home with a ventilator and a G-tube. We were so very close to bringing our boy home, just finalizing the details of nursing and getting everything ordered for home. But God had a different plan for Jaymes. On Tuesday January 23rd, and just 6 months old, Jaymes sailed away to heaven. It was an incredibly unexpected turn after all the progress he had made. Jaymes had an incredible spirit to him, making all the CICU team fall in love with his big eyes and chubby cheeks. He made you work for the smiles, but when they came they were grand. He loved to pet his stuffed animals and wouldn’t sleep without one in his arms.

As a way to celebrate his life with us we are planning services at Norbeck Country Club on February 17th.

We appreciate your presence at our celebration, however if you can not make it, in lieu of flowers we would appreciate a donation to our fund. Jaymes impacted so many lives and using funds raised to continue that legacy would mean more than a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

The funds generated through this would help cover us for any funeral expenses, and anything above and beyond we plan to donate to the wonderful staff at Children's CICU or a local charity.
