Jaylah's Road to Recovery Needs You
Donation protected
Our sweet Jaylah got hurt doing the sport that she really loves… horseback riding. Unfortunately, when she fell off the horse on 4th of July, her foot got stuck in the stirrup and she was dragged, causing injuries on so many parts of her body, including a straddle injury, fracture femur, road rash, possible elbow fracture they are still investigating, large chin injury and as she describes it, “This is the worst day ever”. She underwent surgery from 10:15-3:30a.m and the Dr said it was worse than they expected and we were worried about but, thank god no internal bleeding. Since her whole back is so swollen and road rashed they didn’t put her in chest to leg full body cast but will not be able to weight bear like they thought because it was worse. They’re going to strap her legs together so she can’t rotate too much. Once she clears for anesthesia, pain management, and try to use walker/crutches ( if elbow is not broken) then she can go home. Delilah, Destini, Jared and me resting in the surgery waiting room for what seemed like forever to hear about Jaylah. Poor Destini is praying for some rest but flashbacks of the horse dragging her is burdening her.
Her parents are heartbroken and are going to do the best they can to keep her non-weight-bearing for 6 to 8 weeks which will require them to be out of work, get her to Physical Therapy, medical bills, paying for food in the hospital, parking fees, gas money and with a young family of four this is going to financially burden them. I would like to make it a little easier for them and Allow them to take the time they need to take care of their sweet baby girl to get her to recovery. The worst part is is that the hip ball joint of the fracture might have been impacted the blood flow to the ball joint so could use extra prayers to heal that ball joint and ensure the blood will continuously flow otherwise, she’ll have to have a hip joint replacement at 7 years old and it makes the caregiving and recovery much more serious.
