My name is Georgia Jose, and I am carrying out this fundraiser for my friend Agnes. Agnes and I met in Kilifi, Kenya in 2013 when we volunteered together for Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO). We spent 3 months together working on different long term projects within the community. Since then Agnes and I have kept in touch via Facebook and Agnes contacted me about the struggles she is facing with her son Jayden. I suggested to Agnes to start a gofundme, but she couldn’t do this in Kenya, so I have agreed to facilitate this to then send the funds raised to Agnes for Jayden’s school fees.

Due to Jayden’s sight problems, he needs to attend a specialist school which Agnes needs to pay for. The school fees total to £682.42 in UK pounds. A breakdown of the costs of Jayden’s education is as follows:

Term 1= £275.62.

Term 2= £228.43.

Term 3= £178.37.

Total = £682.42.

Below is Agnes’ story in her own words:

My name is Agnes Filikita Calton. I'm 35 years old, and I live in Kenya. I'm a former international Citizen service volunteer at voluntary service Overseas .

Back in 2013 I was feeling sick more often , I didn't know what was killing me, until I was diagnosed, i was found to have Tuberculosis that was in a bad stage. I've been growing with it without realising.

I went through that journey in and out of the hospital, doing a blood test, physical exams, chest X-ray to visualise the lungs. I was kept under drugs for a very long time.

Through that difficult situation life became so hard for me, I lost my job and after some time got married, I got one child, his name is called Jayden Leon. Unfortunately I gave birth with a lot of difficulty and at some point that affected the baby. The child was born with sinking eyes that affected his vision. He cannot see properly, and he needs special care and treatment. The dad saw that and he abandoned us and threw us out of his house. I was left alone to survive with my child. Due to lack of funds to take the baby to the hospital, my son had to remain like that... So he grew up with this eye problem.

The child has grown and he is now in school. Because of my difficulties paying school fees for the Jayden, he has become a challenge, it's really hard for me, I'm here today pleading to well wishers and friends, to help me raise funds for school fees for this boy. The boy is really in need, he is a very bright boy. I'm begging you before God.. please help my son get education, I'm really in need. I'm not in a position to even pay for my own child..
