Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
More information about Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity: Every day brings new challenges at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). Every day, 619 children and young people from across the UK arrive. Every day, doctors and nurses battle the most complex illnesses, and the brightest minds come together to achieve pioneering medical breakthroughs. And every day is a chance for you to make a difference. This extraordinary hospital has always depended on charitable support to give seriously ill children the best chance to fulfil their potential.
Jayden-Sean is a 9 year old boy who suffers with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and danons disease. Danons disease is a rare genetic heart condition, affecting the way the heart functions due to the thickening of the heart muscles. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is more common but unfortunately comes in hand with danons disease.
Jaydens heart began to deteriorate when he was just 4 years old and soon after he had a defibrillator implanted. The whole journey was difficult for all of us but we all fought through it by Jaydens side. Jaydens mum, Caroline, and sister, Keira, both have the condition as well as other family members. Caroline had a heart transplant at the age of 27 with just hours to live. She was told if she did not get that heart she wouldn't be here today. However, her strength and tenacity shone through, and her personal experience with danons, and going through such a huge surgery prepared her for the support needed to provide for Jayden. Jaydens mum was aware of the condition because her mother unfortunately had the same but passed away waiting for a new heart. along with her brother, auntie and cousins, sadly only Jayden and Caroline are the two to survive Danons post transplant. your only chance of survival is a heart transplant.
Just last year in December Jayden got his 4th and final call for perfect new heart. He was in surgery for 10 hours and woke up around 2 days post transplant. The whole day was just unimaginably emotionality it was the scariest day of our lives, with a lot of different feelings being felt before, during and after his surgery. This has only made him stronger and encouraged him to be resilient and remember he can do ANYTHING!
Organ donation is so important and we want to shine a light onto how much of a difference it can make for so many people. We'd like to thank our donors who provided Jayden and Caroline with a second chance at life.
Jaydens one year transplant anniversary is not too far away and he has said he would like to raise as much awareness as possible for organ donation. He's been open about wanting to help sick children like himself feel better and be able smile again.
We are trying to raise enough money to be able to help fund a new mechanical heart for the children at Great Ormond Street hospital. This gives the patients more time to wait for a heart transplant as being on the transplant list can be a long journey in itself. The mechanical heart pump takes over for the heart and pumps blood, this gives a weak or injured heart time to heal or supports someone as they wait for a heart transplant.
We are going to do this by getting people together for a charity football match as well as charity sky diving! The aim is for Jayden's sister, Keira and her best friend, Isis, to do the sky diving and will need to raise 400 EACH to be able to do so. The football match would be played by family, friends and any locals that are interested in taking part/watching.
Thank you for taking your time to read my story.
If you cannot donate please share with your family and friends to raise awareness for organ donation as it quite literally saved little Jayden's life. If you would take a organ from stranger in a difficult time, lets hope you would donate yours.
THANK YOU!!!
