Jayden Lewis – Cancer Diagnoses
Jayden Lewis age 14 years old, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, bone cancer, on February 6th, 2019 at the Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. We were told they wanted to start chemotherapy as soon as possible so we stayed in SCL and they started a two day treatment on February 10th & 11th. They also told us that Jayden would need a series of shots after each chemotherapy round that cost $5211 each which no insurance will pay for. Jayden will need six of these shot series so over $31,000 that insurance will absolutely not pay for.
We were also told that after his second round of chemotherapy which, will be the 10th week of treatment, they will have to perform surgery to remove the cancer. We were told that with just chemotherapy the cure rate was 10%. However with chemotherapy and surgery the cure rate is 70% so of course the surgery makes sense. The problem this brings is that Jayden’s cancer grew from the pelvic area and has spread to his spine. The surgeon told us that when they remove the cancer there is a possibility that they could damage the nerve function in his leg.
So Jayden, Matt and our entire family are in for a long fight and we hope that people and businesses will help us raise funds for Jayden’s medical bills.
