Jayda's Emergency Surgery: Help Us Save Her

Hi friends, family, and kind strangers!

My name is Marcus, and I'm reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for my best friend, a 3-year-old French Bulldog named Jayda. This is my first time ever creating a GoFundMe, or let alone asking for financial help. But I am truly in a tough spot and I'm desperate for any help I can get.

Jayda was gifted to me from a friend. I honestly never imagined having a French Bulldog, but it was love at first sight. She is the biggest goofball you'll ever meet, always up to something! But beyond her silly, playful energy, Jayda has been my rock. She’s been with me through some of the hardest days of my life. The ones where I didn’t even want to get out of bed. They say, “A dog is a man’s best friend,” and with Jayda, I understand exactly what that means.

Today Jayda began struggling to breathe. What I thought was just a bit of seasonal snorting quickly turned into gasping, collapse, and a terrifying ER visit. The veterinarian said that Jayda has Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS), a life-threatening condition common in flat-faced breeds like Frenchies. The vet said her airway is severely restricted. Jayda is not getting enough oxygen, and without emergency soft palate and nostril surgery, her condition will only worsen. I was bluntly told that without this operation, she might not survive the next major episode. I broke out into tears after hearing this.

The total cost of Jayda's emergency surgery will be $2800. The surgery is scheduled as soon as we can come up with the money. I’ve already spent my savings on emergency care and tests. I also just started my current job a week ago. I simply can’t gather the full amount quickly enough. It’s devastating to know that money is the only thing standing between Jayda and a healthy, happy life. Seeing her gasp for air is the most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever witnessed. But there is hope. This surgery can change everything. It can give Jayda the long, playful, love-filled life she deserves.
