My name is Emma and i have set this fundraiser up to support my son towards vital equipment he needs for his disability and his future development.

Jayce was born at 36weeks via induction after a rough pregnancy and premature rupture of waters at 29 weeks. After a terrible 30 hour long labour and after i had a severe postpartum haemorrhage, our gorgeous boy was born at 36 weeks on the 19/12/2020 at 11.24am weighing 6.1lbs.

Once he was born he had jaundice which required light therapy in hospital for just under a week.

As jayce began to grow we began to realise he was stiff and rigid and very difficult to settle. he wasn’t hitting any baby milestones such as sitting, crawling, walking and only began to talk simple words at 3.5 years.

We paid private to see a head paediatrician at spire who told us he believed Jayce may have cerebral palsy and we were referred back to Alder hey to begin tests and investigations .

In 2022 we got the results of Jayce’s brain scans and we met with a neurologist at alderhey, who told us they had found white matter in his brain and we were given a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy Diplegia. The cause of this being lack of oxygen during birth or pregnancy.

Since then Jayce has had a diagnosis of autism and he has made amazing progress in every way, he is now 5 and attending mainstream school with one to one support. He uses a wheelchair as his main form of transport but he has learnt to use a K walker for short distances with support from an adult.

Currently we are still waiting for an adapted home to become available and have been for over 4 years.

Jayce is awaiting spinal SDR surgery with a two year recovery timeframe and our home is unsuitable for his return currently and his future growth.

We are aiming to raise funds for the equipment listed below to improve Jayce’s life and independence before and after surgery.

– junior adapted electric wheelchair with headrest and harness support. (So we can transport jayce in a wheelchair accessible van without any lifting required due to his size) £4000

– custom Floor level safe bed. ( NHS bed supplied needs Jayce to be lifted into it which is becoming difficult with his age and size and will be impossible after surgery. This should allow jayce to get in and out of bed independently, however we can keep him safe throughout the night with padded and secure sides) £2000

-adaptive bike ( hand controlled with additional supports and harness) £2500.

-Huckleberry hiker ( enabling Jayce to see sights he would never be able to see before , where his wheelchair can not be taken such as mountains, hills, off road adventures , this can be used on adults too so will grow with jayce and he will be able to join along in every adventure he wants to achieve. £2000

We are planning on doing lots of fundraising and appreciate any ideas anybody has to help us with our goal. As a one person working household , getting all this equipment ourself would not be possible without setting up this fundraiser.

anybody who knows Jayce , will know how he never lets his disability hold him back and he is always such a smiley, happy and determined little boy. He deserves this more than anything.
