On August 30, 2022, my sister JayCee suffered a brain aneurysm. She was admitted to the Neuroscience ICU of California Regional Medical Center in Fresno, Ca. On September 8th she subsequently suffered multiple ischemic strokes. The doctors had told my family that there was a chance that she would not wake up from the coma she was in. However, two days later she opened her eyes and started moving her left arm and leg. JayCee remained in the Neuroscience and step down until October 4th at which time she was transferred to Sierra View Medical Center in Porterville Ca, where she remains at this time. We are currently waiting for her to be accepted into a rehabilitation/skilled nursing facility, which we hope is her last stop before she is home.
The part of her brain that was affected is the part that controls her speech, breathing and swallowing. Currently, she is breathing on her own and is no longer assisted by a trach, eating food and singing everything. Her speech is basic, but she is making progress daily. She still has limited movement in her right leg and no movement in her arm.
We are asking for donations to help pay JayCee’s medical bills and her normal bills. We don’t expect her to be home for a few months and when she does come home, she won’t be able to work for a while. We would like to keep her car and her apartment as coming home to these things keeps her mental health strong.
