Jayce Needs Your Help for Treatment Costs

hi everyone!!
As most of you know Jayce was diagnosed with alopecia areata when he was 2.5 years old. By the time he was 4 it quickly turned into Alopecia universalis, which just means the loss of any hair on his body, scalp, eyebrows, and eyelashes. For children with this rare immune system disorder treatments are less extensive . If you know Jayce, you know that Jayce has a smile that could light up a room,he has such a funny charismatic personality a sweet kid who loves to help others! But behind this smile have been many nights of tears snd lots of pep talks to help get him through this new phase in life as he gets older and soon will go through puberty, Jayce often tells me he wishes he could look like everyone else, because most of the time when people look at Jayce they think he has something else which does bother him a lot.
With the help of his dermatologists we have come up with a regimen that Jayce is willing to try but comes at a cost. We have looked into a regimen of Jak inhibitors, oral medication with a combination of PRP treatments.
Jak inhibitors type of medication that blocks the activity of enzymes called Janus kinases . These kinases play a role in transmitting signals that control cell growth, immune responses, and inflammation. By blocking JAKs, these inhibitors can reduce inflammation and other symptoms associated with conditions. The cost for this treatment starts at 1400$ a month.
PRP treatments are a treatment that uses a patient's own blood to promote healing and regeneration. In the context of alopecia areata, PRP is thought to enhance hair growth by stimulating hair follicles. The cost for this treatment is 500$ per session, twice a week over a 6 week course.
Due to childhood alopecia universalis being rare, many insurances do not cover treatments for it. We are hoping that once Jayce starts this new regimen not only will it help boost his immune system but also help with more permanent hair growth.
When Jayce was smaller we tried everything that we could and did extensive research and tried to make him as comfortable as possible with his new look, as he has gotten older it has been harder for him to be as comfortable in his own skin as he was when he was younger. It takes an emotional toll on anyone but especially a child. Not only is it emotional but physical, Jayce’s immune system does have its ups and downs more than any other child usually because when his immune system flares up it takes him longer to recover even from a simple cold.
We are hoping with everyone’s help we can cover the cost to start up this new treatment for Jayce and help him boost his immune system and help his hair growth journey.
