Hi, our names are Elani and Chase. We are the parents of Jayce, who is still currently baking and growing. Elani is currently 5 1/2 months, almost 6 months. This is our first baby, our rainbow baby after having a miscarriage. We are so happy.
About a week into being 5 months we received sad and unexpected news about Jayce. Jayce has been diagnosed with a congenital heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. HLHS is a condition where the left of the side of the heart did not develop. After Jayce is born, he will need three-step surgical procedures that will include the Norwood, Glenn, and Fontan. The Norwood Procedure is usually done within the first 2 weeks of a baby’s life. The Glenn Procedure is done usually within 4-6 months of a baby’s life. The Fontan Procedure is done usually when a child is 2-4 years old. He will also need to see a cardiologist and be on medications the rest of his life to make sure his heart stays strong and healthy after these procedures.
Despite receiving this sad news, we are not giving up on our boy and we are going to do everything we can for him. He deserves a chance at life and we are going to give that to him.
As most may know, we live on Oahu, Hawaii. Unfortunately, we have found out there is no way to give birth to Jayce or have his procedures done on island. We are having to go to California when Elani is around 34 weeks to bring our boy into the world and get those procedures completed. It’s stated from our providers we will roughly be staying in California from 7 months to a year.
With all of that being said, we are asking for your help to raise the funds needed for any unexpected costs that insurance will not cover as well as housing, food, and bills so we can put our focus solely on our boy coming back home healthy and strong.
Anything is appreciated, especially prayers.
We are truly so grateful for anything we receive. Thank you so much.
