Hi, my name is Tia Mullen, and I'm reaching out for help during an incredibly challenging time in my life. I'm a 46-year-old grandmother who recently moved to California to start fresh and escape the toxic relationships I had growing up. I’ve always had a heart full of love, and my faith in Christ has guided me through the toughest times.
Recently, my life took a huge turn when my 26-year-old daughter, who has struggled with mental health and substance abuse issues, found herself in dangerous situations. She had a baby, my grandson, and due to her struggles, both of them ended up living on the streets. When I was able to bring them back into my care, my daughter’s behavior became increasingly concerning, and Child Protective Services (CPS) intervened, taking my grandson into temporary custody.
By God's grace, my grandson, Jayaire, has been in my care since February 28th, and I’m in the process of gaining full custody. He is only 6 months old, and when he came to me, he was severely malnourished, dehydrated, and struggling with health issues like eczema, low iron, and a possible bruises from his time on the streets. He’s now improving and has gained a little weight, but there is still a long road ahead for both of us.
Prior to taking Jayaire into my care, I worked with DoorDash, Lyft, and Uber to support myself. However, my car registration has expired, and my car needs repairs, including an oil change and new brakes/rotors. I’m currently unable to work because I need my car, and because of his medical needs not just anymore can care for him and with the expenses of caring for Jayaire, I’ve fallen behind on rent and other bills.
Thankfully, my church family has been a huge support, providing diapers, formula, and clothing for Jayaire. But I am in urgent need of help with rent, car repairs, and other necessities to care for my grandson and ensure he has the love and stability he deserves.
I am blessed to say that someone has agreed to donate a car to me in August 2025, but for now, my primary focus is to stay at home and be there for Jayaire as he continues to heal and grow. I love him dearly and want to provide him with the best care possible.
I know it’s hard to ask for help, but my pride won’t stop me from doing whatever it takes to give Jayaire the life he deserves. Any financial contributions, big or small, would be a blessing. Even if you can’t contribute financially, I’d appreciate your prayers and support during this time.
In the future, I hope to start my own food truck business selling my Maryland Crabcakes, but for now, my priority is my grandson’s well-being. I trust that God’s plan will unfold in His time, and I’m grateful for the support of everyone who has taken the time to read this.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. God bless you all.
