Jay Randall Accident Recovery Fund

Donation protected
Jay Randall was involved in a serious accident during the second race on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Saratoga Harness Raceway. He was catapulted into the air 15-20 feet, landing hard on his left side. He sustained life-threatening injuries including a punctured and collapsed lung, 12 severely broken and displaced ribs, multiple hairline fractures, as well as a brain bleed. Jay has spent several days in the ICU at Albany Med and expects to be in the hospital for at least a couple of more weeks recovering from a planned surgery to plate his ribs. Being self-employed, the nature of these injuries becomes especially devastating as they extend into extreme worry not only for the well-being and recovery of Jay but over paying growing bills as the family loses ½ of their income. Unfortunately, in New York, harness drivers are left with very little support as they cannot claim workers comp and it is very difficult (near impossible) to receive disability if injured. All hospital bills, recovery expenses, and household bills fall on the family. This is in addItion to the bills necessary to take care of the horses as a trainer and owner. Any help would relieve some of the weight on the family as Jay works to heal from this accident and works to return to the career he has loved since he was a teenager! We cannot even begin to adequately express the gratitude we have for the community and to everyone who has reached out looking to offer support, thoughts, and prayers. We see you and are eternally grateful. Love the Randall Family.
