Jay Mcnairn- Hit and Run Victim

Story

Hi everyone, I have started this GoFundMe for my Uncle Jay Mcnairn, a victim of a tragic hit and run in Oakland, California. Jay loves being outdoors and riding his bike through San Francisco! Jay was biking in Oakland, California, on April 7th. However, as he was crossing the street in the designated biking lane, he was struck by a vehicle speeding through the red light. The car, a white Cadillac Escalade, then reversed in the intersection to escape any consequences they would have faced after the accident. Police said a preliminary investigation shows that Jay was traveling east on East 15th Street in a bike lane and was hit as he was going through the intersection at Eighth Avenue. The driver has not been identified. Jay was left with a brain bleed, injury to his aorta, broken neck, legs, pelvis, and broken ribs. He went into emergency surgery for his brain and heart the same night and was successfully stabilized. He is scheduled to have reconstructive surgery on both his legs on Tuesday, April 12th. He will likely have to relearn to walk and will be bedridden for months. The vehicle driver has not been found, and an investigation is ongoing to find the driver. A 5,000 dollar reward is currently set, and we plan to raise more for it. Money raised will go to: Surgeries Hospital Stay Any other medical needs Raising a reward to identify the criminal who is responsible To help, please consider donating or sharing our story to help find the person responsible for this crime.
