Hi I’m Brandy, Maddie’s mom. My daughter Maddie lost her husband tragically last night without any warning. He has battled with mental Illness for years. Many of you that are close to us know that he attempted to take his own life back in May and he was on a ventilator for days and in the hospital for weeks. He was faithful in attending his mental health appointments with a therapist every week. Sadly, we had no idea he was hiding his pain. He let on he was doing “good”. We had a beautiful day as a family yesterday at an apple orchard where Jay was unusually quiet and distant. He was loving and engaging with the boys but very quiet. Last night we were faced with the reality that he was not as well as he had been letting on. We are in shock and devastated. The manor in which he took his life is a shock to us. This has been very difficult for my daughter and all of us that loved Jay so much. If any of you knew Jay he was the one in the group always cracking jokes and trying to make people laugh. He was an amazing Dad and loved his kids so much. I could go on and on about how amazing he was but sadly he is no longer with us and now my daughter is left with a life of confusion, sadness, grief, deep pain and stress of how to make it alone with her boys. Obviously, our family is right here with her and will support her. However, she will be faced with bills related to this and loss of his income. So many of you have reached out asking to help and this is the best way I could think of to organize that. We appreciate any help you give and most definitely prayers for peace and comfort for my daughter, my grandsons and our family and friends that loved Jay so much. Thank you!!!
