Jay Gunkelman is an icon in the field of Electroencephalography and Neuroscience. A self-taught EEG technician, Jay has inspired thousands of researchers, clinicians and individuals who have benefited from his profound understanding of the the brain and his teachings on the analysis of brain activity.
We are in the process of completing a documentary on Jay's life and work, which will detail the development of the field of electroencephalography over the last half century. Last Fall, we raised over $14,000 for the project, which was used to videotape over 30 hours of Jay's insightful musings on the function of the brain, the history and development of EEG analysis as told through Jay's experience, testimonies from neuroscience professionals and students alike, and Jay's personal history and background as a simple tech who emerged as one of the most important teachers of our time in the field of neuroscience.
The project grew more than we expected, particularly as some of the luminaries in our field began to participate, and now we need to raise money for editing the raw video footage. Although we will probably need more than $15K, we are using this as a benchmark to produce at least a 30-min documentary. Our original goal was to create a full-length, 1-hr film.
We ask for your help to complete this important project. The only expense will be editing, which will begin as soon as the funds begin to come in. We have numerous incentives that will be detailed in emails and updates to all of you who donate, including an edited video (32GB) of Jay's first foundation lectures in the recent "Back to Basics" workshop, a signed photograph of Jay, the now infamous Jay Gunkelman black leather eye patch with Morlet Wavelet inscribed in gold, and more!
