Jay DeLuca's Fight Against Cancer: Join his fight club!

I've started this GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for my brother-in-law, Jason Deluca, who has been fighting an unimaginable battle with cancer. We want to share Jay's story and ask for your support to help him and his family through this incredibly difficult time.

In July of 2022, Jay started feeling unwell during his honeymoon trip with my sister. It was so unlike him to be sick that they immediately knew something was wrong. After months of doctor visits and misdiagnoses, he finally ended up in the ER with severe neck and back pain, along with other unusual symptoms. An MRI revealed that his entire spine was compromised by cancer. Later, additional tests showed he had EGFR-19 Lung Cancer that had spread to his organs and bones. It was already at stage IV, and our world turned upside down.

**The Fight Begins**

Within a month, Jay had to undergo three major surgeries—two to stabilize his femurs and a partial hip replacement. He was essentially walking on toothpicks, and we were all terrified for his safety. Since then, Jay has undergone ten rounds of radiation, targeted therapy medication, and is now on his fifth round of chemotherapy. The financial and emotional toll of this battle is almost unimaginable, but Jay continues to fight with courage and determination.

EGFR-19 Lung Cancer is a rare and aggressive form of cancer that primarily affects younger patients. It often goes undetected because it doesn't fit the typical profile of lung cancer, which is usually associated with smoking. Jay was a healthy, active person whose regular bloodwork didn't reveal any signs of illness. Without that critical MRI, we would never have known about the cancer, and Jay's outcome might have been tragically different.

The costs associated with Jay's treatment, surgeries, and ongoing care are overwhelming. Although his family has received tremendous support from family, friends, and the medical team at Memorial Sloan Kettering, it's not enough to cover everything.
