We are fundraising on behalf of our cousin Jay Carey and his family. Jay is fighting Ewing Sarcoma Cancer, a rare type of cancer that occurs in bones or the soft tissue around the bones. Jay was diagnosed with Leukemia in March 2021. After a misdiagnosis of lung cancer, Jay sought a second opinion at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, where they diagnosed him with Ewing Sarcoma in November 2021. He has been through seven rounds of intense chemotherapy. The latest news is that the tumor is back, so he is undergoing radiation and will likely need another round of chemotherapy.

 

Unfortunately, Jay has run into a hurdle with his insurance coverage. Our fundraising goal of $35,000 will be used to help the family with the estimate they received to cover Jay's essential healthcare needs in the coming weeks.

 

Jay is a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He adores his community and strives to invest in the things he loves. One of Jay's hobbies is cheering on his favorite sports team, the Minnesota Vikings. In fact, Jay and his late father, Dave Carey, founded the Arctic Vikings Fan Club in Anchorage, Alaska, back in 1996! Today, Vikings fans still gather at 907 Ale House to cheer on their team each Sunday. In addition, he is a caring coach, training teams in high school football and softball. He has a particular interest in the Special Olympics, for which he mentored his cousin, Bryan.

 

Our cousin Jay is still young and has a lot to give to this world. His love for his wife, Maver, and his daughters, Kasila and Brystal, shines through in everything he does. Jay's continued focus needs to be on his love for family and beating cancer. Please consider helping us erase some of the costs associated with Jay's difficult battle.
