Hi, as most of you might know by now, recently Jax has undergone some life-threatening health issues. He woke up one morning and just the look on his face alone, I knew something was incredibly wrong. Hospital after hospital, doctor after doctor, even an emergency surgery, no one could figure out what was wrong and my poor baby was deteriorating fast. Jax could no longer open his eyes or lift his head, so I took him to our last option- a VCA ER.

 

I was willing to do anything and everything to save him because I honestly can't imagine a life without him. Not so soon. So I handed Jax (& my life) over and told the specialists to please save my baby.

 

Turns out Jax had a chunk of intestines that died due to lack of circulation which in turn caused a leak leading to abdominal sepsis, pneumonia, and pancreatitis. Within hours of being there he was rushed into his second surgery within days. The surgery team warned me that he was in extremely critical condition and they couldn't guarantee he would even make it out of the hospital post-surgery. But I had to try. Who was I to not give Jax the chance to fight? How could I not try to save his life when he's saved mine?

 

Almost two weeks post-op and Jax is recovering so well. We have a long road ahead of us, but he's pushing through and I know we'll get there.

 

I know for a fact if I didn't take him to VCA, he wouldn't be here right now cuddled up next to me. I am so so thankful for his team of doctors who saved his life. But, unfortunately, along with going to specialists, there comes a huge price to pay.  Weeks of hospitalizations, surgeries, medications, doctor visits, and time off work has impacted me emotionally and financially. I'm only asking for a small portion of the total amount but if you would like to donate to Jax's medical bills, anything helps! We are so grateful and appreciative of anything.
