Hello World,
My name is Jaxon, also known as Jax by those who love me. I was born on July 29, 2016 and soon after was diagnosed with down syndrome (trisomy 21). The doctors found some holes in my heart and at the early age of two months, I had my first heart surgery. I'm a tough little guy and made it through. I think it helps that I have so many people who love me. I'm lucky to have my mom and dad, three grandmas, three grandpas, five aunties, and two uncles. As you can see from the picture above, I have a favorite monkey blanket that helps comfort me. I've also got some great dino claw slippers that give me courage and made me a celebrity on the Cardiac NICU (see photo below).
I'm going to have another heart surgery around six months, but until then, I'm eating as much as I can to grow healthy and strong. My family says I am a warrior and also a very sweet baby. They love that I rock a strawberry blonde mohawk. What can I say? It just grows that way. My Auntie Katie loves when I make pterodactyl baby noises (you can hear some of them here) and my Auntie Tiff has already planned a themed calendar photo shoot for me (think Anne Geddes). I don't know how I feel about that but I don't get the sense that I have a choice in the matter.
I finally got to go home from the hospital. I lived there for my first 12 weeks. I really need my mom to be able to stay home and take care of me for the first year of my life. I have lots of special needs, equipment (for my feeding tube), and appointments that make it important for my mom to be with me. Plus my next heart surgery.
We're starting this GoFundMe to help raise money for rent so that my mom and I have a stable living situation for my first year. Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated. Even if all you have to send is love and healing, that makes my heart happy too!
Love,
Baby Jax
P.S. In order to be as transparent as possible, we want to let our donors know that Auntie Kim (Kelsey's sister) will be the one receiving the funds and she will be sending a rent check each month to our landlord.
