Jax Needs Emerg Surgery To Fix His Broken Leg!

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Shalimar…Jax’s “Other Mother”. I met Jax (Scott & Jess, too!) in the fall of 2021 when we were neighbors in Summerville, SC. We lived next door and literally shared walls of our double unit carriage house. He would run over and up our stairs any chance he got. I always joked I was gonna put a doggy door in the bedroom wall so he could come over to visit whenever he wanted! I never imagined I’d fall in love with this little guy the way I have! After both households moved last year, I’ve been lucky enough to still keep him when his Dad has to travel for work. I had him for a whole month in December while Scott was in Australia! Jax is the happiest little creature I’ve ever met. He lives to play with his ball and would play non stop if you entertained the idea! He loves to ride in the car/truck every chance he gets and is always down for anything. This past Saturday June 10th, Jax took off on a run around the neighborhood as he unfortunately does sometimes, and when he returned home crying out in pain at his back door, Scott knew something was wrong. He took him to the ER Vet to find out that he had broken his left radius and ulna. Both of the large bones in his left front paw. They said Jax would require emergency surgery to repair the leg. If surgery wasn’t an option financially, then amputation was the only other option. Jax deserves the chance to have this surgery and keep his leg! Right now, his leg is in a temporary soft splint, with pain management…but the clock is ticking. Muscles and tendons are contracting the leg and could make it harder to repair during surgery and the chance of infection setting in is always a possibility. Jax saw his primary vet on Monday June 12th and they checked the leg and replaced his splint. We were hoping that when they looked at the X-ray’s they might be able to reset the bones and put on a hard cast but they could not and he was referred to an orthopedic specialist. Those 2 words in the veterinary world can only mean dollar signs! After 2 vet visits and over $1200 later we’re basically still at square one. Jax has another appointment on Monday June 19th with a surgeon but that old saying “You can’t get blood from a turnip” most definitely applies here. There is an opening for surgery next Friday June 23 but they can’t hold the spot until it’s paid for. I don’t know what else to do other than to say we need help to make this happen for Jax! I can’t imagine him not ever being able to run & play the same way again and the thought truly breaks my heart! Please, no amount is too small and every little bit eventually adds up! We are desperate and this is basically a last resort. We Thank You From The Bottom Of Our Hearts! ❤️
