Meet Jax our almost 4 year old XL Bully that we brought home from New Jersey just 5 weeks ago. This big goofy baby stole our hearts the minute we met him.

Here comes the scary part of something that we never could have known or predicted:

4/3/26: The Emergency Begins
Morning: Completely Normal
  • Following us everywhere and wagging his tail.
Midday/Afternoon: Suddenly declined
  • Started passing blood
  • Only a few drops of urine
  • We rushed him straight to the emergency vet.

4/3/26: Emergency Vet Visit
Diagnosis:
  • Found out Jax was “loaded with bladder stones”
  • Stones were stuck in his urethra
Emergency Plan:
  • Attempt to flush the stones back into his bladder
  • Followed by emergency surgery to remove all stones from bladder
Outcome:
  • Most were able to be flushed out
  • One was completely stuck

4/4/26: New Plan

  • Emergency vet coordinated with surgeon 2 hours away
  • Last attempt before he would need to be sent to the NC State Vet

4/4/26: Transfer & Surgery
  • Jax was transferred to the new vet 2 hours away.
  • He lost a lot of blood during surgery and required rounds of vitamin k.
  • Procedures performed:
                  - Neutered
                  - Scrotum Removed
                  - Creation of a new urinary opening
                  - Removal of all bladder stones
  • Transferred back to original emergency vet for overnight observation

4/5/26: Coming Home
  • Jax did well through the night and was able to come home.
  • Lots of rest and multiple medications
  • Removal of stitches in 12 days
  • Total cost: $5,193.29

The stones have been sent off for analysis, which is really important to help us understand what happened. Jax always has fresh water and full access to the bathroom, so these results will give us answers.

Share his story, donate if you can, and help us on his recovery journey .
