Jawaun "Juba" Brown's Memorial and Celebration of Life
Our father, Jawaun Brown gained his angel wings on May 1st 2024 — three days before his 49th birthday. He had been fighting a long, painful battle with his health for 11 years. In 2013 he fought hard and overcame Necrotizing Fasciitis, a rare infection. However, this did not conclude his fight. The medicine he received while hospitalized, due to this infection, attacked his kidneys. In 2016 he learned his kidneys were at 40% function. By 2019 he began receiving dialysis 3 times a week — a permanent solution until a kidney was found.
In September of 2023 he was rushed to the hospital after falling, later finding out he had a stroke. From that point he would return to the hospital numerous times, having another stroke, multiple surgeries, and a permanent trach helping him breathe. Despite everything he continued to fight, his strength shining through each day.
Throughout our dad's entire life, he still managed to keep a smile on his face. Whatever life would throw at him, he continued to do the things he loved — being outside in nature, enjoying the beauty the world offers or listening to music and keeping up with the latest tracks.
He was a son, brother, father, grandad, and close friend to many. Although this is a very difficult time for his family, we are all so thankful he is no longer in pain and at peace.
On. June 8th, 2024 we will have celebration of life for him by the beach — one of his favorite places to be. Any and all help to give our dad a proper celebration is appreciated greatly.
With love to everyone,
Jawaun's children
