My name is Nana, and I never imagined I would be spending this holiday season in the hospital. Just as the world was preparing to celebrate Christmas, I was diagnosed with Ameloblastoma—a rare tumor that required immediate and life-changing surgery. To save my health and future, my doctors had to reconstruct my jaw using bone from my leg (fibula) and perform a skin graft for my gum. The process has been overwhelming, both physically and emotionally, and the recovery is long and challenging.
Even with insurance, the medical bills for this complex surgery and ongoing care are a heavy burden. The financial strain is something I never expected to face, especially during a time that’s meant for joy and togetherness. Every day, I am focused on healing and regaining my strength, but the weight of these expenses is always on my mind.
I know there are so many important things you could do with your resources, especially during the holidays. But if you can find it in your heart to help, your support would mean the world to me. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings me closer to recovery and relieves some of the stress that comes with this unforeseen circumstance. Thank you for considering my story and for any kindness you can share this season.
