Javier Tarinda, 31, was diagnosed with Marfan syndrome when he was seven.
The time has come where it is medically necessary to undergo a surgery known as Bentall Procedure. This is a delicate open heart procedure.
He has been approved for this surgery at the Ignacio Chavez National Cardiology Institute (website in Spanish), which is one of the best hospitals in Mexico City, and partners with foundations to help cover expenses, only receiving patients who have no insurance and limited resources.
What would normally be prohibitive for these patients is accesible for a fraction of the total cost.
The pre-op studies were programmed for May, with the actual surgery scheduled for late June. However, due to Coronavirus, everything has been put on hold temporarily.
Still, the need is pressing.

Javi is a highly resilient man and has overcome many difficulties even with limited resources. He is a talented musician (piano, saxophone), a hard worker who specializes in renewable energy (solar power, solar water heaters) among other things.
He dedicates much time to promoting good causes that help the environment, animals and has a tender heart for vulnerable people who have challenging needs. His older brother is blind, and recently they played chess together with a specially made chess set. Javi, in solidarity played blindfolded.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Total expenses add up to a range of $130 -150K pesos ($5,300 - $6,200 USD) and they include: Pre-op studies, transportation, meals, surgery, post-surgical hospital stay, and some for unforeseen expenses (medications, equipment, etc.), bank transfer fees, and Go Fund Me expenses.
He has been actively raising funds since January, and has just over $1,000 USD.
Because Go Fund Me does not operate in Mexico, funds will be deposited in my personal USA bank account and transferred via international wire transfer to Javi´s bank account in Mexico.

Also, during his hospital stay, he needs volunteers who will be present and spend the night with him, helping.
