Javier's Funeral Expenses

Our father, Javier De La Riva, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January of 2015. Until the 9th of October, 2017, he lived with the cancer in every sense of the word. He was an incredibly determined man. Our dad continued to do all the things he loved for as long as he could find the strength for them, including working hard to help his family. Now, we need everyone's help to do something for our father: Javier is going home one last time.

Our dad is survived not only by us, his wife, and his grandchildren, but also the legacy that he has left. His passion for people, baseball, dancing, and laughing was enormous and affected everyone around him. Our dad loved playing baseball, and people loved playing baseball with him. He was so passionate about baseball that he wanted everyone to be just as passionate about it as him. The friends that he made playing baseball were lifelong friends. They were among his best friends.

Dancing was another passion of our father's. He would dance anywhere: at parties, at the store, in his living room and his front yard, and even while driving. He danced all the time, and he was truly great at it.

People had a tendency of gravitating to our dad. He loved to talk to everyone. He could make friends anywhere and with anyone. The people he did yards for, his mechanics, his neighbors, and his barber are just a few examples of people who became long lasting friends. He had more friends than most people have acquaintances.

Our father loved his family more than anything in the world. Even when he was sick, his priority was his wife and kids. He cared for us so much he left his beloved Zacatecas to give us a better future. He always had an incredible and special bond with his mother and father. During his last days his sisters came to pray and comfort him. Our father was even able to meet his newborn grandson just days before he passed.

Our dad was the funniest person we have ever known. He could make anyone laugh, and always had a joke or a funny story to tell. Even after he got sick, until the time of his passing, he would make jokes. Pain couldn't stop his humor, and our memory of it will never fade.

As Javier's children, it is our responsibility to ensure his final wishes are carried out. If we are to bury our father in his home state of Zacatecas, we need to raise the money to do it. He wont be able to go home until we do. But we need help. We will never forget all of the help our family and his friends gave during his illness, but our father needs one last favor. Please help us give our mother, his wife, who was by his side 24/7, peace of mind. Please help our father take this final journey home.
