The Art of Flavor’s Javier Fights Stomach Cancer

Hello! My name is Malia and I am helping my friend Luis raise money for his brother, Javier Santiago Féria, his wife Jenni and their four children. Javi is the chef/owner of The Art of Flavors Mexican Restaurant in Jamestown, NY. Jenni is his manager/sous chef/love of his life. Last Tuesday, Javi woke with excruciating stomach pain. Jenni took Javi to UPMC Chautauqua where the Emergency Department doctors found that he needed imminent surgery for a hole in his stomach from gastric ulcers. After the surgery, Javi was transferred immediately to Pittsburgh. The stomach surgery was successful however the pathology determined that Javi has cancer. He will have his NG tube removed tomorrow, a port placed and chemo started within the next 3 days. They do NOT have health insurance. This sweet family has a dad who is the sole provider, and he is in for the fight of his life. Javi is an accomplished chef delighting so many of our palates with his delicious meals! I have been feeling helpless in how to best support them, knowing this is a great platform to meet their needs.
