Help Petunia Get the Surgery She Needs
Donation protected
UPDATE!!! Petunia is home from surgery!
She stayed two nights over at the vet hospital and came home yesterday. The Dr placed a rod and plate in her leg to stabilize the fracture. There is no cast due to it causing her pain. She had ripped off two casts in the same day, dr believes it is because the pressure was causing too much pain even with her pain meds. When she ripped off her first cast, she used her back right leg to claw it off and actually declawed 1 of her nails in the process.
She is already walking around on it as well!!!! She isn’t fully weight bearing yet, but is slowly getting used to it and balancing with both feet.
The surgery came out to $4275.00. Combined with the first two vet bills, the total so far is $5801.19. We still have aftercare visits to pay for that will be every two weeks. That can change depending on her progress.
I want to thank everyone who has shared or donated. It means so much to me, truthfully.
Petunia is a lovable 7yr old tabby cat who loves toy, treats, her fur siblings and her mom Megan.
On May 1st she experienced an incident that left her hind leg broken and was rushed to the emergency vet. She was diagnosed with a left tibia/fibula fracture. The vet recommended surgery which is upwards of $7,000 not including aftercare visits.
Petunia was sent home in a cast with pain medication. Although she was put in a cast, the severity of the break in her leg meant she would eventually need surgery or amputation because setting it alone wouldn't allow it to heal properly.
On May 4th Petunia was brought to another animal hospital for services and consultation. She needed another set of Xrays, a change to a better fitting cast, medication on site to be able to examine her, and a prescription for pain medication until her appointment with a surgeon.
Unfortunately, this visit has utilized all of the Care Credit that was available to her pet parent Megan.
Petunia's appointment with an orthopedic specialist isn’t until May 21st.
She is going to need ongoing medication and casting/bandaging adjustments done at Quaker Animal Hospital in Quakertown, PA.
Petunia is definitely going to need surgery, whether it is operating to fix and reset the bone and cast it or to amputate the leg entirely.
I have created this GoFundMe for Petunia's pet parent, my daughter Megan, to help offset the cost of her care. Megan lives on her own and works 2 jobs to support herself and her small family of fur babies whom she loves very much. As stated, she has utilized her savings and the Care Credit available to her. Any help is greatly appreciated.
