I've written in many places about Jasper's love of books and reading.  This week, in an effort to transform the second anniversary of his passing  (July 10) into something positive, I decided to launch this campaign.   

Jasper's first real job was as a page at the Powell River Public Library.  He had to submit a resume, do an interview, confirm he was tall enough to shelve books on  the top shelf (in doubt at first), and wear a nametag - such a source of pride.  He thought he was well read, but discovered new authors and popular genres that he didn't know existed.  He relished getting to know his co-workers.

Powell River is getting a new library soon - and the Friends of the Library have a fundraising campaign to "Pump up the Volumes" in order to purchase the 4,000 new books and media it can hold.  For every $25 donation, a bookplate will be placed in one of those new books with the name of the donor.  This GoFundMe page will ensure that any donations here will see Jasper's name on those bookplates.  If the $500 goal is reached, donations in Jasper's name will be acknowledged in a permanent display at the new library.  You can give in his memory so that more youth can become addicted to books.  Code 66 little man ❤️
