Jasper Wildfire Evacuation Support

My name is Erin, I’m fundraising for myself and my family to help recover some of our costs due to evacuation from our home in Jasper, Ab.

In the early hours of July 23rd, we evacuated our home, making our way to Valemount BC. My two daughters, my two dogs and my youngest daughter’s kittens, from her dad’s house, and whatever we could think of to grab in the panic.

We spent two nights camped out at the golf course in Valemount and then made the decision to head closer to the comforts of family in Victoria.

Although comfortable, our living conditions on the island are not practical for long term living with the children and animals. I have recently booked flights to get my girls and their kittens to Edmonton where their dad is.

Unfortunately, he has withdrawn the offer to pay for those flights and associated costs with the travel (luggage, kennel’s etc.). He has also gone ahead and registered them for financial relief with My Alberta although they are not with him, they are with me. Because of this, they will not approve me for support for either of them, or myself.

I think I would be ok if it wasn’t for these circumstances so I’m just looking to recover the cost of the travel and at the very least, my own personal financial aid that I am entitled to but being denied of.
