Housing for Jaspa and Maggie

New South Wales has an unprecedented number of homeless individuals. Affordable and safe housing is at a premium and many families, even those with jobs, cannot afford the rising cost of rent.

Realistically, we can’t help everyone, but won’t you consider helping just one?

My name is Judy and I am raising funds for a little dog named Jaspa, and his mum, Maggie, who have fallen on hard times. They have been homeless for several months.

Through the help of several supporters, this precious family has managed to find temporary shelter in a low cost hotel, but without our help they would be living in their car. A long-term, sustainable solution is what is necessary to stabilize them.

This fundraiser replaces a previous one because Maggie felt there was too much confusion around the purpose of the original one. Maggie originally thought purchasing a camper would be a viable option, but now this seems out of reach due to skyrocketing costs, park fees, and maintenance. Caravan parks accepting pets is also an issue.

Navigating the complexity of homelessness is very new for her and Maggie’s situation changes almost daily. She asks for your patience and understanding through these trying times.

The funds raised will be used by Maggie for living expenses including storage rental for their belongings, food, fuel and shelter.

The ultimate goal is to continue financial support until stable and affordable housing is obtained. To that end, the financial goal may be adjusted over time.

Finally, providing funds is crucial, but we may be able to find Maggie a home through sharing this widely. Our combined networking may be the tipping point that makes the difference. During a scarce housing crisis it is often word of mouth that produces a rental.
