In Honor Of Jason...for Heather.

It has been said that life can be unfair sometimes. So too can a death too soon.

The world lost an incredible, kind man on June 18th. Jason Rooney was a loved son, brother and friend. He was also the long-time boyfriend and soon to be fiance to Heather Schmitz.

Jason and Heather met while in their home state of Minnesota, and eventually took the leap of faith to move westward to Las Vegas. Heather, "Jade" to her radio listeners, getting on-air at Mix 94.1, while Jason went to work tough hours at the El Cortez, keeping one eye on the riff-raff, and the other eye on the sports book.

For nearly three years, the two were inseperable. And after many months of flirting with the notion, just recently, Jason told Heather that he was scoping out a ring for her. She wanted nothing fancy - nothing special. She just wanted to be his.

Every night just before he left for his late-shift, Jason would text Heather, who is at the radio station nightly, to let her know he was heading out. Thursday... he didn't text.

Together, Jason and Heather made an incredible team, and worked their tails off to make ends meet in the process. Each an equal bread winner. Each a supporter of the others goals.

Our CBS Radio Las Vegas family are beyond heartbroken for Heather, and Jason's family. A week ago to the day we start this page, we were all with both Jason and Heather at a station party. It is unmistakeable how in love these two were, and the loss that is felt is insurmountable.

We have started this page to help our "Jade" get back on her feet. Anyone who knows Heather knows she is an incredibly hard worker and has never asked for anything. (We are dragging her into this). But the challenges that lay ahead are a-plenty.

The condo they rent is recently up for sale, and they were beginning to weigh their options to move to a new place. Bills that were once split between both of them are now down to one.

Jason worked long, hard hours to put a roof over their heads and provide for his future wife. Now, we seek to pick up where he left off and make sure Heather is taken care of in these toughest of times.

Thank you.
