Friends helping Jason Gunn's family
Donation protected
Late Monday night March 8, 2015 Jason Gunn, went to the Emergency room to seek treatment for a high heart rate 180-210. Jason had been sick off and on since Valentine's Day with different symptoms. While at the emergency room, Jason had a coughing attack which included cough/vomiting mucus/pus. The Emergency physician decided to do a CT-scan. After the CT the choice of transferring Jason from IU North to Methodist via helicopter was made.
Once at Methodist, Jason had an echo done and shown only 5% function. Side note:which is crazy because his Athletic history of being runner and only 37. So the decision was made to rush Jason to Open Heart surgery. Jason had fluid around his heart and lungs. At this point Jason had some kind of viral infection. Once out of surgery he ended up in the Cardio-thoracic Intensive Care Unit on the ECMO machine. The ECMO machine is being the "heart/lungs" for Jason to let his heart and lungs rest and recover. At this point Jason was stable but still was bleeding at incision site. Today, Wednesday March 11, 2015 Jason had to go back to surgery to remove some blood clots and to find the source of bleeding. Jason tolerated the surgery well, however will remain on the ECMO machine as of now.
Anyone who knows Jason knows he is a fighter and stubborn. At this point it's undetermined how long he will be in the ICU, let alone hospital. Amber his wife has been a stay at home Mom for the past year, leaving Jason being the sole provider for his children and wife. We his friends, neighbors, teammates, and co-workers would like to gather some money for his family. It's going to be a tough road ahead, so let's help him and his family by donating some money. If enough money is donated if could help at least relieve some pressure from the family and let them focus on his care/recovery.
