JASON NEEDS A KIDNEY & HELP PAYING BILLS

Donation protected
Hello Friends and Friends of Friends!
Earlier this year we received the devastating news that our son, Jason, is in End Stage Kidney Failure - ESRD Stage 5. He is very sick. He has been unable to work full time.
Donald, Jason's brother Mark, and I have started this FUNDRAISER to help Jason and Cassie pay for medical bills and living expenses while he awaits news that a KIDNEY DONOR MATCH has been found and he receives a Kidney Transplant.

Just in case you have not heard the story:

On VALENTINE'S DAY 2023 at 6:30am, Jason's and Cassie's buzzing cell phones woke them. A voicemail was left by Jason's doctor that sounded urgent. The labs that were drawn from him the day before had returned with alarming results. He was told to go to the Emergency Room as soon as possible. When he arrived an hour later, STAT orders written and he was admitted immediately.

3 1/2 hours later his Nurse Care Practitioner took me aside to deliver the tragic news.

"Jason is in END STAGE Renal Failure. He has only 5% of his kidney function remaining.

The prognosis for a person this sick is poor. He has been placed on Kidney Dialysis where he will remain until a Kidney match is found."

KIDNEYS, You Gotta Have ONE GOOD ONE To Live!
°°°Most people have two working kidneys. But, to LIVE we only need one healthy kidney. The kidneys do the all important job of removing toxins, waist, and fluid from your blood balancing salts and hormones before the cleaned blood is returned back to the blood stream. When they stop functioning life cannot be sustained.°°°

When he and Cass left the hospital on February 21st, Jason was hopeful. He just knew that once he was home, once he got puppy-kisses from Polly, once he was able to hold his Isabella (their teenage daughter) in his arms, once he climbed in his bed with Cass by his side things would get back in order again.

He felt very certain he would be back at work in 2 weeks....so certain that he called his boss to to tell her so.

He really had no idea how difficult life on dialysis would be. 6 weeks later, he called back to resign.

  • Kidney Failure and dialysis are often accompanied by debilitating muscle weakness, leg pain, headaches, night sweats, massive fatigue, and depression. Jason goes straight home from treatment and often sleeps for hours, rising weak and sick.
  • Over time his body has adjusted to the new norm and he has come to know that every other day is a "good" day. He can do more those days. ⁸

♡♡Throughout all of this, Cassie has displayed a beautiful strength and independence that I may never have known outside of this road we walk together.
She loves my Jason.
And I love her.♡♡

Jason will proudly tell you that Cass is the Chief Finance Budget Officer in their family. She does a great job at it. So, when this first happened, she figured they had enough in savings to make it financially for about two months. With her overtime and help from family and friends she made the necessary ends meet a bit longer.

But, 9 long months have gone by now, and they've behind.

  • $6,500 in OUT-of-POCKET medical bills sit on the coffee table. This will be a recurring expense for two more years until Medicare kicks in and covers it.
  • LOSS of Jason's INCOME from is $1400 a month.
  • In the last 2 months BOTH cars broke down. Repair costs were nearly $5G. They were forced to take out a loan with monthly payments to make it work.
  • They have continued to pay Child Support to avoid late payment penalties and interest fees.
  • Gas and toll-fees - and other costs related to spending hours on end at the Medical Center.
  • RENT is $1100.00 a month.
  • Pet fees. Veterinarian fees.
  • Etc etc etc

▪︎▪︎ Jason has filed for disability and Medicare. They need this help ⁹now. Please pray. ▪︎▪︎

FEARLESS KIDNEY DISEASE WARRIORS

Ultimately, Jason needs a Living Kidney Donor who is a MATCH to share LIFE with him. (Jason Thompson 02/01/1988)

With a Living Kidney Transplant - the average person can live 35 or more years! People with kidney failure can avoid dialysis or reduce dependency on it with a living donor — and with a life expectancy more than two times longer than those on long-term dialysis. Methodist provides expedited evaluation for these patients, and get them transplanted quickly.
