Jason Werby Medical Expenses

Jason Werby, husband of Nadia and father to Bella and Jackson, was in a terrible mountain biking accident on June 25, 2022. The accident left him unable to move from the neck down. He fractured his T3 vertebrae, and had multiple compression areas in his cervical and thoracic spine. He also sustained 8 broken ribs, a brain bleed, a broken nose, and missing teeth.

 

He was flown first to Mercy Hospital in Durango and then to St Anthony's in Lakewood. He underwent two surgeries including the fusion of C3-T3 vertebrae.   During the second surgery surgeons were able to stimulate a deltoid response which is supposed to be a good indicator of potential to regain movement. Only time will tell how much movement he will regain.  Currently he has started to be able to move his legs and can feel someone touching him down to his elbows. 

Jason was accepted to Craig Spinal Rehab and will hopefully be transferred on July 7th in order to regain mobility and hopefully to walk again.  Craig Spinal Rehab is the best in the country but $3,000/day. He will likely need at least three months of rehab and up to two years of physical therapy before the full prognosis of Jason's recovery will be known.  The financial burden of the medical bills is a big weight on their shoulders at the moment. Medical bills will may exceed one million.
