We never thought we would be here, asking for help like this, but today we are.
Jason has just received a new liver after a 10-hour transplant surgery at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, California. After everything leading up to this moment, we are incredibly grateful to say he made it through surgery and is now finally home, beginning recovery.
That alone is a blessing beyond words.
Many of you might not be aware, that Jason has been dealing with (N.A.S.H) Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis / Liver Cirrhosis since his early twenties.
But the truth is, the hardest part is not over. A liver transplant is not just one surgery and then life goes back to normal. Recovery is a long, fragile, and overwhelming process. There are medications, follow-up appointments, constant monitoring, transportation, physical healing, emotional strain, and the everyday cost of trying to survive while life has completely been put on hold.
I, Jessie am now Jason’s full-time caregiver. I will be helping with his medications, daily care, appointments, transportation, and everything needed to help him recover safely at home. Because of this, both of us are out of work right now. Jason cannot work while recovering from this life-saving surgery, and I have stepped away from work to care for him full time.
That means we are facing this recovery with not only the weight of Jason’s health, but also the financial burden of losing both of our incomes at the exact moment we need the most support.
We are starting this GoFundMe to help with:
• transplant and recovery-related medical expenses
• hospital and treatment costs
• prescription medications
• transportation to and from Cedars-Sinai and follow-up appointments
• in-home recovery and caregiving needs
• rent, bills, food, and basic living expenses while we are both unable to work
This has been one of the most difficult and vulnerable times of our lives. We are doing everything we can to stay strong, stay grateful, and take this recovery one day at a time. Right now, our main focus is protecting Jason’s health, following every step of recovery carefully, and making it through this without falling apart financially.
If you are able to donate, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Every single contribution helps more than we can explain. And if you are not able to donate, sharing this page, sending prayers, and helping spread the word would mean the world to us.
Thank you for standing with us during this time, for your kindness, and for helping Jason have the best chance at healing and moving forward.
With love and gratitude,
Jessie and Jason
