I decided to swallow my pride and ask for help.
There is never a "good time" for cancer to strike, especially a second time! But it really stinks when it strikes at the beginning of the year, a brand new insurance year, which means you have zero out of pocket expenses so far and need to meet your max-out-of-pocket in order for anything to be covered decently by your provider!
It started as a mole on the back of my head (or so I thought). Getting tired of nicking it every time I shave my head, I decided to have my doctor take a look at it, he then referred me to Tareen Dermatology. Dr. Tareen informed me it was Squamous Cell Carcinoma (a type of skin cancer). They cut it off and in 8 days it grew back 4 times the size. My 2 options were; have the Mohs procedure or 20 radiation treatments. I chose radiation because the Mohs procedure would also require plastic surgery due to the size of the area they would need to cut-out (larger than a silver dollar) , all of which would be extremely costly. The radiation treatment is covered under my insurance plan with a $4,000 out of pocket expense. I am asking for help to reach the out of pocket expense.
I know many of you have already helped me when I had throat cancer, and I still to this day can't thank everyone enough!!!! It is awkward and embarrassing to have to ask again. Anything helps.
Thank you,
Jason
