On Sunday, August 7, Jason attended a racing event with his 12-year-old son, Judah. As they enjoyed a fun day together, Judah witnessed his dad suddenly collapse and stop breathing. Jason - a healthy 36-year-old with no medical history - had gone into full-blown cardiac arrest. (Cardiac arrest is sudden death due to a deadly arrhythmia of the heart.) Paramedics on site started CPR and had to shock him several times. Miraculously, Jason’s heart started beating again, and he was resuscitated. However, he spent close to 30 minutes without a heartbeat.
Jason spent several days in the ICU being closely monitored as he began to slowly recover. The first few days were scary and overwhelming, with more questions than answers about Jason’s health and future. Although his heart is beating on its own, he will need a procedure to implant a device that will keep him safe from future sudden cardiac events.
Jason has months of recovery ahead of him. He will need PT, OT, speech therapy, and cardiac rehab. He and the family plan to seek trauma therapy as well. Jason and the family have a long road of recovery ahead. Needless to say, although we are celebrating Jason’s life, this is a massive blow to him, Julia and Judah. We are thankful beyond words that Jason is alive. Please join us in helping love and support this family in any way possible.
Thanks in advance for your support and love for the Peach family!
