Jason Christopher Olivencia, 55, of New York, NY died on Saturday, December 10th, 2023.
Jason was born on October 29, 1968, he was raised in Chelsea NYC and spent his high school years in Beacon, NY. On September 11, 2001, Jason watched as the second plane hit the South Tower and was moved by the events of that day to join the Army. Jason was 33 when he enlisted. His only desire was to help. He served with honors for 17 years.
Sergeant First Class Jason Olivencia was a highly decorated member of the United States Army. He received the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (5th award), the Joint Service Achievement Medal (2nd award), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, among many others. He served four tours in Iraq and A fghanistan. After his overseas service, he was a training officer and an attaché to the Pentagon.
Jason was beloved by all who knew him. He was a bright light, with a huge smile and an even bigger heart… a gentle giant. The world was made better by his presence.
Jason is survived by his daughter, Sierra, and his son, Gabriel. His children, siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends are all left with a huge hole in their hearts.
