On Sunday August 16th, Jason suffered a major heart attack. At this time, it's been determined that the front of his heart has sustained permanent damage. He will need to undergo a double bypass for the side and back of his heart, but his team of doctors are waiting until the end of this week, so that his heart has a chance to recover some before undergoing surgery. 

I know that my parents would never, ever ask for any financial help, but realistically the hospital stay, emergency procedures, and surgery are going to come at a high cost. I've organized this fundraiser to help relieve some of the financial stress that comes with a medical emergency. (Sorry Mom & Dad... I hope you won't be too mad that I didn't ask you before I did this.)

Some additional details for those who don't know Jason on a personal level. He is a veteran & father of 2, but he never distinguishes that his 4 stepkids are less than biological to him. While 2 of us are out of college, this year brings a college freshman and high school senior, junior, & freshman. Jason is Papaw to 2 grandbabies (6 years old & 8 months old). He is a proud small business owner of Oakley Brothers Distillery, after partnering with his brother to pursue their dream together - even if that meant making hand sanitizer instead of spirits during a pandemic! He is only 48 years old, but he has dedicated his life to being a helper (whether that meant serving this country, serving his family, or serving his community) under any and all circumstances.

This has devastated our family beyond belief, but my parents have continued to say how thankful they are for everyone who has offered up prayers & well wishes. We are so blessed to have family, friends, & a community who loves my dad so much and I know that he can't wait to personally thank you all in person.
