Our dear friend, Jason, was diagnosed with Ependymoma in 2014. Ependymoma is a type of tumor that begins in the ependymal cells in the brain and spinal cord that line the passageways where the cerebrospinal fluid that nourishes the brain flows. He was successfully treated with surgery and radiation for the brain tumor at that time. Sadly, in February 2021, another tumor was found in his neck. His doctor performed surgery. Due to the sensitive location of the tumor and the risk of nerve damage, the entirety of the tumor may not have been removed . The next step for Jason is an aggressive radiation treatment, called proton therapy, to his neck, spine and brain. There are three centers for this treatment which are located in Tennessee, Massachusetts, and San Diego. The most feasible for him is the San Diego location.
If you're lucky enough to know Jason, you know that he is kind, loyal, full of fun, and an all around amazing human. We can show him love and support with
