Jason got new lungs!

Update - After only three weeks on the transplant list Jason got new lungs on July 8th! He is doing great! He got out of the hospital 13 days after the surgery and is already walking several miles a day. Now the real work of healing and recovery begins! . If you could help with our expenses while he gets back to full strength we would really appreciate it. Thank you all for the prayers and good juju that have been sent his way. It’s working!! And it means the world to us!
Ten years ago Jason developed a genetic autoimmune disorder called Polymyositis. It has left his lungs permanently scarred and him on oxygen 24/7 ever since. They didn’t think he was going to make it out of the hospital the first time, so it’s a miracle that he’s made it this far. Unfortunately, his poorly functioning lungs have put a strain on his heart, and now it’s time for another miracle. He needs new lungs. The doctors expect him to have a great outcome since he’s only 50 and in pretty good shape for someone with his condition. Jason will have many more years of ‘normal’ life in front of him. He has one more set of doctor appointments scheduled and then he is on the transplant list.
Just before COVID, Jason was just about to be on the transplant list. COVID delayed everything and, to keep him safe, Whitney had to stay home from work and quarantined with him. As you can imagine, two years of this ate into our savings for the transplant. The financial planners at the hospital have told us that we need a minimum of $10,000 dollars to carry us through the transplant, which will require us to move to Seattle for months after the transplant. We will have travel, transport, food, accommodations, and medical expenses that aren’t fully covered by insurance. Even once we get back home, there will still be multiple trips to and from Seattle for follow-up care. I hate to ask for help, but this is something we can’t do without it. So if you feel like donating to help make a miracle happen, we would appreciate it. We can’t thank you enough for your help.
