My name is Jason P Hook and I am a 22 year veteran with the United States Capitol Police. On April 14, 2021 my life changed forever when I was given the devastating news from a routine colonoscopy that a large mass blocking my rectum was found and further testing proved to be a Stage 3 cancerous tumor. On May 11th my doctors performed a miraculous operation removing the mass and successfully reconnected my colon to rectum without issue. Everything was going fairly well at home in recovery when on the 10th day I woke with excruciating stomach pain and severe severe vomiting. Realizing I needed major medical help I headed back to the hospital. Doctors spent day after day, MRI after MRI, CT after CT, x ray after x ray to try to figure out what was wrong with me with no results. Finally on the 6th day of being in complete misery and extreme pain, it was discovered that I had contracted the deadly bacterial infection called C diff. Finally getting on the proper medication I slowly began to feel somewhat better in my road to recovery.

During the next few weeks of recovery I had several doctors appointments explaining the chemotherapy treatments I would need and what that process will involve. I will undergo 6 months of two different types of chemotherapy and unfortunately I will not be able to work during this time. The treatment co-pay cost for just one month is in excess of $3,700.00.

The stress being diagnosed with cancer, going through the surgery to remove, fighting a deadly bacterial infection is overwhelming to begin with but then the medical bills started rolling in. Everyday a new bill and the stress level continues to rise.

After my most recent doctors appointment which gave a line by line breakdown of the medical costs that will be due at each session and with being out of work for so long, I am reaching out for any assistance you may be able to provide. My wife and I have 7 children and 3 are still living at home. We are trying to make ends meet but it is extremely difficult. You may not believe it, but EVERY penny helps.
