Jason Needs Heat for the Winter

Donation protected

Jason St.Pierre is suffering a series of severe medical conditions including loss of vision and painful neuropathy from Diabetes to a heart attack a couple of years ago. He lives alone in a trailer in Casco without a vehicle and makes his way to the food pantry via friends and neighbors.

His only heat sources are small electric heaters which are both impractical and dangerous. He can't afford to pay the electric bill as well. The solution is a small woodstove that needs to be bought and would need to be installed. He has a person lined up to do the job and has gone online to get a very detailed list of everything that is needed.

Thank you to the COMFU Mens Team for passing around the hat and donating $250. cash!

Now for some progress reports as we get closer to goals.

Thanks to the Waite brothers this week deconstructing the old unstable chimney and sweeping the entire roof.

Found a used EPA rated Vermont Castings Intrepid II catalitic stove it needs a few parts to make it as new and some have been ordered. The Intrepid II is the perfect size for this home of about 960sq ft of heated volume. Jason has the stove on a bench this week to clean and fefurbish. Here are a couple before and after cosmetic changes

BEFORE

AFTER
wire brushing and fresh stove black applied!

Second update: most of the parts are here and prepped for installation.
Exterior pipe painted as directed by manufacturer. Awaiting installation.

As pretty much all the stove installation things are on site waiting for install I moved ahead to wood processing needs.

Got a good deal on a 22 ton woodsplitter that needed a new pump, still need to buy that.

The splitter works as is but is slow until I swap pumps.

Going to need a few hand tools. One maul, one 4lbs mallet a hookaroon to lift log rounds some personal protective gear to run my chainsaw. Possibly a few more stove internal parts I did get the griddle hinges and a full gasket set.

As we are 50% along any contributions from here will be some labor costs, pump, tools and expendables oil, fuel etc to get me through this season.

MORE TO COME!
Still need to reach the final goal to finish and it's getting cooler in Maine as Sept is days away. Please share the GFM if you can! This goal is attainable as we are nearly half there at the moment. Thank you all very much. Jason St Pierre
