Jason McHatton Cancer

Donation protected
Hi my name is RJ McHatton and I am starting up this fundraiser for my son Jason McHatton who is battling an incurable cancer called peritoneal carcinomatosis. The cancer started in his neck and salivary glands and now has spread to his stomach. Jason has been doing radiation and chemo. Jason has a great attitude and is a man of faith. But he is not going to be able to work. Jason, his wife Tanya and daughter Summer are going to need some help financially. Please consider donating to this young family if you can. The funds will be used for their rent and medical expenses that are heading their way.

Jason update:
On Friday Jason went in for a new series of chemo but the cancer doctors said no. He has lost a lot of weight, the chemo isn’t working, and the cancer is too aggressive and winning. This diagnosis was sad and terrible news for us all. So Jason’s care has been taken over by hospice. Jason took this news with dignity and strength. We are thankful for your prayers and support. Jason requests no phone calls or visits. It’s ok to email him or text him. We have a go fund me page for his wife and daughter and his needs at https://gofund.me/5a4bcefd

Jason update:
(Sunday Mar 17)
Jason is still hanging on. He always loved home made corned beef and cabbage on St Patrick’s Day. Last night Jason had a scary respiratory event that took some guidance from Hospice on the phone and extra morphine to get him calmed down. Tanya hurt the calf on her leg a few days ago when trying to boost Jason on his bed by herself. So now she needs to have someone there with her to help lift or move Jason. Luckily Victoria and I only live a few blocks from them, so I’ve been able to help as much as I can. Other family members have been taking shifts to assist Tanya as needed. I was able to spend some extra time with Jason over the past few days, which has been great. Jason is really on his last leg. He is pretty much mostly bones now. He knows what’s going on but isn’t really able to communicate much. He surprises us all the time because he can communicate his needs when he wants to. He still has a sense of humor. The hospice team are visiting every day now to check on Jason’s meds and to help in any way they can. Jason is on a catheter and has a pressure sore on his rear that hurts him a bit. We have it covered with a special sponge pad and are using pillows and turning him, offloading it several times a day. The moving him around is not as pleasant for Jason because he is mostly bones and the movements are not comfortable for him. Tanya and Summer are doing a fantastic job in keeping Jason safe and comfortable. It’s affected their ability to get much sleep, but they are making every moment with Jason count. We ask the Hospice doctors and nurses about giving him oxygen and fluids. At this point the question is are we asking for these for him or for us? These are tough discussions and I’m not sure what Jason would think about them. Thanks for all your prayers for Jason and Tanya and Summer. Jason is still young. He’s the same age as Taylor Swift! He has always been strong in physical and mental capacities. He might just surprise us. Thanks to everyone who has donated to Jason's gofundme page. We truly love and appreciate you!

Thanks!
