Honoring the life of Jason Kamali'i

Aloha,

My name is James Hooper, and I’ve started this GoFundMe account in memory of Jason Kamaliʻi. We grew up together on Maui, played soccer on many of the same teams and both graduated from HP Baldwin High School in 1988. We shared some amazing times that I’ll always treasure.

Sadly, Jason passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2024 on Oahu. No one saw it coming.

In spite of their overwhelming grief, his family is planning his Celebration of Life services – one on Oahu (March 7, 2024) and another on Maui (March 10, 2024). My fellow classmates have volunteered helping to organize the Maui luncheon.

Many are asking how they can kokua at this sad time. Here are two ideas:

Volunteer your time, services or potluck items for the Maui luncheon on March 10 at Kenolio Community Center, after the scattering of ashes. A light lunch will be served, but donations of pupus, desserts, drinks and more would be appreciated. My classmate Shannon Alueta will be posting an update in the next few days on ways to help with the Maui luncheon. In closing, I should mention that his family remembers that Jason wanted to have his ashes scattered at Kamaole III, in Kihei, Maui "when it was his time." Unbelievably, that time is now. Let's all help to bring Brother Jason home to honor his request.

Daughter Jayme, mom Jane, and sister Lei are so appreciative of the amazing support they have received thus far.
