Jason “Jake” R. Pruski, 47, of Sandwich, IL, passed away Monday, July 29, 2019 at Valley West Hospital in Sandwich. He was born February 21, 1972 in Sandwich, IL, the son of Michael R. and Carol L. (Rogers) Pruski. He married Kristine “Kristy” M. Edwards on May 6, 2005.
Jake was sworn-in as Sandwich's Fire Chief in July of 2016, but was a member for over 30 years after his start in 1989. He was a fire science Instructor at Indian Valley Vocational Center and Waubonsee Community College.
Jake was a carpenter at heart, he loved to build furniture and countless other objects. He was a huge sports fan, with NASCAR and the Chicago Bulls being his favorites. He was an amazing father to his four children and loving husband to wife Kristy. Jake’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, friends, and especially his kids, Baleigh, Bridgett, Connor, and Ava.
There is no doubt that this is a difficult time for our community, fire service family, and Jake’s family.
On behalf of the SFD, we would like to rally together to be of financial support for Kristy as she navigates the waters of mothering her children alone.
In lieu of a traditional meal train, we’re asking for monetary donations of any amount to benefit Kristy and their children.
