Why We’re Doing This
Jason is one of those rare people who instantly lights up a room. If you were at our wedding, you know exactly what I mean—he was the one tearing up the dance floor like nobody was watching. He’s been an incredible friend to so many of us, which makes it even harder to see him blindsided by something like this.
Recently, Jason was the victim of a sophisticated scam that completely wiped out his savings. We’re rallying around him—not just to help him recover financially, but to raise awareness about scams that are tricking more people than ever before.
What Happened
Jason received what looked like legitimate fraud alerts from “Chase Bank.” The scammers spoofed official-looking text messages and followed up with convincing phone calls. They reported fraudulent charges, claimed his account had been compromised, and instructed him to transfer his funds to a safe account.
Everything about it looked official—caller IDs, security protocols, even insider banking lingo. Only later did he realize it was a scam.
Why This Matters (And How These Scams Are Changing)
Scams like this are on the rise, and they’re evolving fast:
AI voice cloning is making scam phone calls more convincing.
Crypto-based transfers and fake “safe accounts” are harder to trace and recover.
Phishing + SMS spoofing are targeting people from every age group, not just the elderly.
Jason’s story isn’t unique, but it’s personal. If it can happen to someone as thoughtful and tech-savvy as him, it can happen to any of us.
What You Can Do
Share this campaign with close friends and family (please don't post more broadly yet) – the more people know how these scams work, the harder it becomes for scammers to succeed.
Contribute if you can – Any amount helps Jason recover and reminds him how much his community cares.
Stay alert – Double-check suspicious texts and calls, especially when it comes to money transfers.
We love you, Jason!

Logistics
1. Jason doesn’t know about this GoFundMe yet – we want it to be a genuine surprise and gift.
2. For now, we’re sharing this only with family and close friends who know and care about him.
3. Once a few people have contributed, we’ll share it with Jason and ask his blessing before sharing more broadly.
4. Every dollar raised will go directly to helping Jason recoup his losses and get back on his feet.
