On September 23rd, Jason Hummell was involved in a serious accident while working on his garage door. The accident left him with an amputated finger on his left hand and several severe lacerations on his arm. He underwent surgery and they were able to save function of the arm and hand, but were unable to save his finger. Jason has a positive outlook, but the road to recovery will involve months of therapy.
Jason lives a life of kindness and passion.
Many in the community know Jason from the energy and enjoyment he creates as the rhythm guitarist and vocalist of Juvenile Characteristics. Jason's passion for music builds a connection with so many people because the songs he writes and sings are straight from the heart.
When he is not bringing joy to people’s lives through his music, Jason is helping others adapt and thrive. As an occupational therapist, Jason works with intellectually and developmentally challenged children and adults struggling with substance abuse and pain management. Through mindfulness techniques and positive psychology, he helps them to develop coping and life skills which create confidence and meaning in their lives.
But of course, Jason's most important roles are husband to Melissa and father to Finley and Gracie. He is the calm, patient, rock of the family who takes care of everyone and fills the house with laughter.
Let's help show our support to Jason.
Although Jason has some health insurance, significant out-of-pocket medical expenses and weeks of lost income are creating a major financial burden for him and his family. Please help us to support Jason in his recovery by giving back to someone who gives to everyone around him.
All expressions of support are deeply appreciated - donations of any size, spreading the word, or sending the Hummell's your thoughts and prayers.
