Jason Hultgrien Medical Expenses

Donation protected
On the morning of May 29, 2017, while camping at branched oak with his family, Jason Hultgrien started experiencing a terrible headache.  His headache became worse and he started sweating profusely, became dizzy and eventually was unable to move his head or neck.  His family called the paramedics and he was transported to Bryan hospital in Lincoln. They did a CT scan and found a brain bleed and took him in for emergency brain surgery.  After surgery, he remained in a medically induced coma for about 24 hours.  They took out the ventilator the morning of Tuesday, May 30. He is breathing on his own, talking a little, his vision and hearing is not 100% yet.  Jason has Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT), also known as Osler–Weber–Rendu disease, is a rare autosomal dominant genetic disorder that leads to abnormal blood vessel formation in the skin, mucous membranes, and often in organs such as the lungs, liver, and brain.  A high number of HHT patients will also have or develop artery malformations (AVMs) in one or more body organs, where capillaries between arteries and veins are missing. These can cause mild to life threatening complications and, because they are hidden, make HHT one of the most challenging diseases to diagnose.

Jason’s wife, Heather, is currently 8 months pregnant with their son and has been a high risk pregnancy already.  Jason and Heather are also fostering 2 kiddos, 6 and 10.  They were obviously not expecting this life changing, traumatic event.  It is unknown how long Jason will be hospitalized or be able to return to work.

Jason and Heather are not the kind of people to ask anybody for help with anything, but are the first people to help anybody they possibly can.  We are asking for any donations possible to help with medical costs and future financial burdens.  Thank you all and God Bless.
